Texans vs Titans Preview

Houston Texans vs Tennessee Titans

texans-titans-previewWell Texans fans, week two is upon us. After an incredible comeback win against the Chargers on Monday night, the good guys get to come on home to H-Town for a little home cooking and face off with the Tennessee Titans. Now these guys are no strangers to Houston, so of course we expect a bit of a dog fight with division rivals. Tennessee is coming off a win against the Steelers on the road, in what was not a pretty game at all. I think too many people are putting too much stock in that game praising the Titans D. They may be improved, but they have to
prove it this week. The Steelers are a complete wreck at every aspect of the game, so the Texans will be their first real test. Hopefully the Titans chest isn't pumped too high, we are NOT the Steelers! Expect the crowd to loud and rocking in Reliant Stadium and all around the city of Houston!

Contain CJ2K

The formula is quite simple. Tennessee is not a power house offensive team with weapons all around. They have a young, shaky QB and young receivers. The main weapon of choice is Chris Johnson. Sounds like an easy task, but CJ2K did gash our defense for 141 yards in our first meeting last year. However, that really did nothing as we gashed their whole team on the way to a 38-14 victory. But it still remains something to achieve. Never give another team a chance to do something special (ask San Diego). Shut down CJ and shut him down early. Force the youngster Jake Locker to throw the ball all day and take advantage of the pass rush with JJ and crew (welcome back Antonio Smith).

The man to watch Sunday isn't Arian Foster or Ben Tate. No, I'm not saying they're not important. But if this Titans defense is actually that good, the game will be in the hands of Matt Schaub. Have no fear! In 8 games against the Titans, Matt has posted 17 TD's with only 2 turnovers. He love playing against Tennessee and this trend should continue Sunday (hint, hint, fantasy football junkies). If the run is slowed down, there will be plenty of play action to OD and Dre. Also expect a nice break out game by the rookie Hopkins. Where better to make yourself known than in front of the home crowd in the home opener. We'll be looking out De'Andre, post a TD for us!
